《格子里的树》描绘了城市当中的树。因为城市规划中树会被放进一个个方块区域里而得名。生活在城市当中，树木和人产生了有意思的互动。他们被修剪、被“医治”、被倚靠、被挂上床单，也冲破墙壁、围着人类玩、一起被风吹乱发型……树木根植大地，“拥抱”着我们生存的环境，创造美好。这些被观察到的细小互动被放进了这本书里，希望更多的人能够看到感受到身边的这些可爱物种的存在。他们一直都在，也需要被看到，被拥抱。
